A dark chocolate with a story that leads all the way to the Duarte Province in the heart of the Dominican Republic.
The cocoa beans for this bar come from over 160 small-scale farmers who have been working with the Öko Caribe organization for years. Founded in 2006 by Gualberto and Adriano Acebey Torrejon, the organization aims to produce high-quality cacao while actively supporting local communities.
In addition to sourcing the beans, Öko Caribe handles fermentation and drying, provides expert farming advice, and helps farmers grow economically. The result is cocoa with a rich flavor profile – turned into honest, bean-to-bar chocolate by the Herůfek family chocolate makers.
